Rules: Karma for Nuyen, Time Elapsed

It's been brought up a few times to me that it might be necessary to convert Nuyen to Karma for some characters and that there's realistically not enough time to pick up the new skills someone would learn from expending that money.

Well, look no further.

I'm proposing that individual sessions have a bit more in-game time between them, maybe a week or two weeks, depending.  That's ample time for people to get in side RP feasibly, do side jobs, or do research/scouting.

The other half of this post will be after the jump.

Karma for Nuyen

Look at the table on page 270 of the Twentieth Anniversary Edition.  Multiply the Karma numbers by 5000¥ to get how much it would cost in nuyen to raise this instead.

Then come up with an IC justification.  A trainer, a donation to a charity that happens to have an elegant swordsman, money donated to your mentor, and so on.

You can do this between game sessions quite easily.  The only stipulations are that you cannot bank Bought Karma and that you cannot mix Bought Karma with Earned Karma.

Thus, if Alexi wanted to improve her Logic from 3 to 4, she would have to do this between game sessions (a week or two of in-game time) and spend 100000¥ (5000 times 20).  This gets very expensive, very quickly, but is a very effective way to go about it.  Maybe you spent this money on an Xtreme training course.  Alexi played chess with the 21st century Deep Blue for a week and read lots of books.  She couldn't decide to only spend half the money and 10 Karma, she would either spend 20 Karma or 100000¥.

The possibilities are endless.
